Mercedes-Benz CLK 430

The Mercedes- Benz CLK- Class is a mid-size luxury rear-wheel drive coupe and it is based on the coupe version of the C-Class model. Major models in this class include the CLK 350, the CLK 550 and the CLK 63 AMG. The CLK 63 AMG's 481 bhp V8 engine is the most powerful engine in use and it is a whopper. Further, both generations of the CLK- Class utilize the Mercedes-Benz W208 chassis. Not to mention, there is also a convertible version of the CLK. The very first-generation CLK was launched in 1996, 3 years after the 1st generation C-Class model was released. It is as said, this exact model that the CLK is based. This was also the final showing of the W202 platform. The launch of the CLK also marked Mercedes' first venture into the mid-sized coupe market and was, finally, the marquee's first rival to the BMW 3-Series Coupe. Less expensive than the sporty SL-Class convertibles, the first generation CLK convertible was the most successful convertible Mercedes-Benz ever offered. In total, 41,520 were sold in the United States from 1999 to 2003, and to boot, more than 115,000 were sold throughout the world. This was a great success for Mercedes- Benz and the company really needed it at the time. Models offered in the first generation included the CLK230, which is more commonly known as the Kompressor, the CLK 320, the CLK 430, and the CLK 55 AMG. All of these models were offered in both coupe and convertible form making them diverse enough to attract a wider audience, not to mention that they both looked great. Later, in 2000, the CLK 430 joined the lineup. It would be hard to predict where Benz as a company would be were it not for their latest cars and the new clientele that they have drawn upon.
