Acura Legend

From 1986 to 1995, Acura produced the Legend for sale in the United States, Canada and parts of China; whereas, Honda produced the Legend for sale in other markets. The vehicle was available as both a sedan and a coupe. The sedan was exceptionally successful for Acura, as it was the top-spec sedan that Acura manufactured. In fact, it was one of the initial cars to be sold under the brand name Acura. In 1996, the Legend was replaced by the Acura 3.5RL in North America, which was a redesigned version of the Honda Legend. The Legend however is still available under the same name and sold by Honda in many other places of the world. While in production, the vehicle received numerous accolades including JD power from 1987 until 1990. Car and Driver placed the vehicle on their top ten list three years in a row. Furthermore, Motor Trend labeled the car "import car of the year" in 1987. The Legend received such recognition for its flawless finish and never failing reliability. Not to mention the power of the vehicle, which achieved speeds up to 135mph and reached 60mph in less than 8 seconds. Moreover, the technical highlights were sure to please any car enthusiast. The vehicle boasted a multivalve V6 engine, 4wheel disc brakes, variable length intake manifold, a double wishbone suspension and an information system that monitored scheduled maintenance intervals and better yet, provided the driver with fuel efficiency information. The impressive Legend was developed in cooperation with the Rover group, who sold the vehicle under the Rover name in both the UK and France. Japan excitedly welcomed the Legend for its navigational system, which in 1990 was the first car released with such a feature. However, the system did not at the time rely on satellites, but instead used accelerometers.
