Tips for Auto Transport to Chicago

Chicago 2The city of Chicago is the third largest city in the United States and sits right on the shores of Lake Michigan. The city has long been considered a transportation mecca in the Great Lakes region of the U.S. and since its founding has continually grown and evolved. Chicago was originally founded in the late 17th century but would not grow to prominence until the middle of the 18th century. As the city of Chicago grew, the state of Illinois bloomed as well, and today Chicago and its surrounding metropolitan area is one of the most popular auto transport locations in the United States, and the state of Illinois also enjoys seeing lots of transporters moving in and out of it all the time.

It helps that Chicago was built from the ground up with transportation and logistics in mind. Sitting on the western banks of Lake Michigan, Chicago became one of the main stopping points for freight coming along Lake Michigan as well as via overland routes, and because of its location – amongst many other metropolitan areas, such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Bloomington, Indiana; and Detroit, Michigan – it is a prime hub for carriers to run through and operate out of. During the winter months transportation costs may be slightly higher due to the harsher winter weather, but there should still be plenty of carriers willing to run routes through the area even in the depths of winter.
