Additional Hyundai ExcelCar Shipping Information:
Car Shipping for Hyundai Excel The Excel was introduced as a replacement for the Hyundai Pony. In the United States it was the company's first and only model, but thanks to an extremely low price of $4,995 and being voted the tenth Best Product by Fortune magazine, it set records for first-year import sales. These totaled 168,882 units, which certainly helped push the company's cumulative production past one million by 1986. A similar sales success was replicated in Australia, where it was also priced very low. The Hyundai Excel was also known as the Hyundai Presto and the Mitsubishi Precis. It was the first front wheel drive car produced by Hyundai and was built from 1985 to 1994. The Hyundai Excel was available as a hatchback or as a 4-door model. The Hyundai Accent would later replace it in 1995. In another first, the Excel was the first Hyundai car to be exported to the United States. The Hyundai Excel was available with either a manual or automatic transmission mated to a 4-cylinder engine aspirated by a carburetor or fuel injection system, depending on market and model year.

Originally available in six model variants, it was cut to two in 1990 with the introduction of the Mirage, although the Precis remained in the Mitsubishi range as a "price leader" until it was discontinued. This model was so successful over its lifetime due to its market penetration and also due to the extremely low price. Even though the company name was not recognizable to the American consumers, the price was enough to lure them in. It turned out to work well for Hyundai given that they are still exporting cars to the United States to this day. Of course, things could have turned out much worse had the model had any sort of chronic long-term mechanical problems.
