Car Shipping for Honda Prelude The first generation Prelude was launched in 1978, and was the third main model in Honda's modern line up, joining the acclaimed Civic and the acclaimed Accord. Drivers were enamored with its standard large glass moon roof, which was very unique at the time. The design of the car was an amalgamation of both the Civic and the Accord that existed at the time. The Prelude came equipped with a 1751 cc SOHC CVCC I4 engine that produced 72 hp and came with a five-speed manual transmission, or with a two-speed automatic called the Hondamatic. By 1980, the two speed Hondamatic was replaced by a up to date four-speed automatic. Mostly, this car was sold in the UK with a 1.6 Liter engine. The Prelude would remain in production until 2001. In 1992, the fourth generation Prelude was released, after being released in Japan in 1991. The car had a 58% front and 42% rear weight distribution. The two-door coupe spanned an amazing five generations but was discontinued upon the release of the fourth-generation Honda Integra. This occurred in Japan in late 2001, due to its decreasing sales and popularity.

The Prelude's recurrent competitor has been the Toyota Celica, which is another I4-powered coupe introduced several years prior to the Prelude. Throughout the 1980s, it also saw challenge by the Nissan Silvia, the Isuzu Impulse, the Mitsubishi FTO, the Mitsubishi Cordia, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Ford Probe and the Mazda MX-6. Nevertheless, they seemed to hold their own quite well and even managed to earn a few awards along the way. In Australia, 1983-2002 Honda Preludes were assessed favorably in the Used Car Safety Ratings 2006. Also, the Prelude was on Car and Driver magazine's annual Ten Best list ten times, from 1984 to 1986, and again from 1992 until 1998.
