Auto Transport for Toyota Tundra 4dr Short Bed The Toyota Tundra four-door short bed was publicly introduced in May 1999 as a 2000 model. It was initially to be called the T150, however, Ford felt that this name was too close to the market-leading Ford F-150. This prompted a lawsuit by Ford, and thus the truck was quickly rebadged as the Tundra. The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck sold by Toyota, and acting as a replacement for the T100. This model has not been skipped in terms of receiving accolades. The Tundra was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award and was Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year for 2000. Before the latest update, the Tundra was classified by many as too small to be considered a full-size truck. But this is not what consumers are saying with their dollars as it has already captured 5.6% of that market. Things were still not all bright eyed at Toyota. Although sales were double the dismal rate of the T100, the 100,000 Tundras sold each year failed to impact sales of the Ford and GM trucks. Sure, it did take some sales from Dodge, but not enough.

The Tundra 4dr was anyhow recognized for its performance as Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award in 2000 and Best Full- Size Truck from Consumer Reports. A much larger 2007 Tundra was showcased at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. The new CrewMax and the Regular version of the Tundra are being built in San Antonio, Texas, while the Double cab is being built in Gibson County, Indiana. The new double cab takes the place of the access cab in the lineup and the CrewMax takes over at the top of the line. The redesigned Tundra Regular and Double cabs went on sale in February 15th 2007 with the CrewMax to follow in April. Hopefully, as is planned, Toyota may launch a diesel engine by late 2009.
