Additional Toyota RAV4Auto Transport Information:
Auto Transport for Toyota RAV4 The Toyota RAV4 is a compact crossover Sport Utility Vehicle built and marketed by the Toyota Motor Corporation. The name stands for "Recreational Activity Vehicle, 4-wheel drive," although not all models have four-wheel drive, but this is an option in some countries. It has been surprisingly and unknowingly popular. The RAV4 was at first based on the Corolla platform, and was offered in both two and four-door versions. It was launched in Japan and Europe in 1994 and reached North America by 1996. It was created to answer consumers' desires for a vehicle that had most of the benefits of SUVs, such as increased cargo room, higher visibility and the option of four-wheel drive. But, more so, it had the maneuverability and fuel economy of a smaller car making it the best of both worlds.

The early success of the RAV4 showed the way for other compact SUVs such as the Honda CR-V, the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Ford Escape, the Mazda Tribute and the Subaru Forester. In the US, a 2.0 L I4 engine putting out 120 hp was offered, along with both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Further, the RAV4 could be had with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. In 1998, the RAV4 was slightly recreated on the front and rear ends, and a soft-top two-door was made available exclusively for the US market. That did not last long, as in 1999 the two-door hardtop was dropped from the American lineup. This left only the 4-door and soft-top models. It was long overdue, but the Toyota RAV4 was completely overhauled for the 2006 model year. It was even placed on an all-new platform. It does still have the 2.4 L four-cylinder engine, but it now produces 166 hp, up 5 from the previous year. Further, the RAV4 is up by 21 percent in interior volume from the last generation and now has an available third row seat for two small children.
