Auto Transport for Toyota Highlander The Toyota Highlander is a crossover Sport Utility Vehicle assembled by the Toyota Motor Corporation under the Toyota brand name in its Kyushu, Japan assembly plant prior to 2007. Thereafter, production has been occurring at its Ikeda, Osaka, Japan assembly plant. It was showcased in April 2000 at the New York Auto Show and introduced as a 2001 model. It arrived in late 2000 in Japan and in January 2001 in North America. The Highlander was created to fill the market slot between the Toyota RAV4 and the Toyota 4Runner, but today, the Highlander fits in between the RAV4 and the FJ Cruiser. It has victoriously become Toyota's best-selling SUV. Interestingly, Toyota could not use the Highlander name in Australia and Japan, since that name already describes a trim line of the Hyundai Terracan SUV.

At first the Highlander was a regular, non-hybrid SUV driven by an internal combustion engine. Later however, Toyota launched a hybrid version known as the Highlander Hybrid. It utilizes the company's Hybrid Synergy Drive technology combined with the company's 3MZ-FE 3.3 liter V6 engine. The Highlander Hybrid was released to the press at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, and was offered to the public in July 2005 as a 2006 model. The 2006 Hybrid will run the buyer in the range of $33,030. This price tag is $6,590 more than the price of a similarly equipped non-hybrid Highlander, however, it is much more earth friendly. This model is called the Kluger Hybrid in Japan and Australia. The 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid will be going on sale in September of 2007. The new Highlander Hybrid will feature Toyota's VDIM stability system, which integrates full-time four-wheel drive with electronic brake and throttle control, and true electronically controlled active steering. Further, the weight, cost, and fuel economy have been improved for the model that has yet to be released.
