Additional Porsche 911Auto Transport Information:
Auto Transport for Porsche 911 The Porsche 911, which is appropriately pronounced as nine eleven, is a sports car made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. The renowned and durable car has sustained constant improvements and upgrades since its release in 1964. Mechanically, it is rear engined and was air-cooled for most of its existence. Since its creation, the 911 has been enhanced, both by private teams and by the factory itself. It has been used for racing, rallying and other types of automotive competition. It is well known as being the most successful competition car ever. Further, in the international poll for the award of the world's most influential car of the twentieth century, the 911 came fifth only after the Ford Model T, the Mini, the Citroen DS and the Volkswagen Beetle. It has also been awarded numerous prestigious titles over the years. It is the most successful existing model that was or is air cooled as opposed to the rear engine layout that was established by its original inspiration, the Volkswagen Beetle.

It was given the name "Porsche 901" originally because it was the 901st internal project. Peugeot protested saying that they owned the trademark to all car names formed by three numbers with a zero in the middle. This proved to not be such a big deal, as the new Porsche simply had its name changed to 911. It went on sale in 1964 and no one has ever looked back. The 911 was created to be a much more powerful and larger, not to mention more comfortable, replacement for the Porsche 356. The 365 has a huge following on the account of it being the company's first model, and more or less an evolution of the Volkswagen Beetle. The 911 made its public release at the 1963 Frankfurt motor show.
