Auto Transport for Pontiac Montana In 2005, the Montana was updated with a design similar to an SUV, which resulted in its new name, the Montana SV6. The 2005 Montana SV6 used a 3.5 L High Value 3500 LX9 V6 that produced 200 hp and 220 ft•lbf. It was similar to the Chevrolet Uplander, the Saturn Relay and the Buick Terraza, but it was the third costliest with a starting price at $24,840. In the United States, only the long-wheelbase version was offered, while in Canada the short-wheelbase version is on the market as well. This model is built near Atlanta, Georgia in Doraville. However, sadly, on November 21, 2005, GM announced that it would close the Doraville, Georgia assembly plant in 2008, which was producing the SV6. To make matters worse, several months later, GM announced that the SV6 would be discontinued anyway after 2006. This was due to poor sales and the sheer fact that it did not fit within Pontiac's performance image. However, in Canada and Mexico, where the SUV has the faithful following of drivers, production will continue.

The Montana will however disappear from Pontiac's Canadian and Mexican lineup after 2009 anyhow. This comes as GM closes the Doraville plant. The Montana, which is really a minivan, replaced the Pontiac Trans Sport moniker in the 1999 model year. The Montana nameplate was used though as a trim level of the Pontiac Trans Sport van from 1997 to 1998. This generation was much like the Buick GL8, the Chevrolet Venture, the Oldsmobile Silhouette and the Opel Sintra. Further, the Montana was one of the few minivans, which provided seating for eight. Oddly, this was not enough to garner any buyers; perhaps it was just ugly from the outside. Also, true SUVs are much too popular and those who oppose SUVs are looking for fuel efficiency.
