Additional Pontiac G6Auto Transport Information:
Auto Transport for Pontiac G6 The EPA lists the G6 as a compact car, but its relative, the Chevrolet Malibu is listed as a mid-size car by the EPA; both cars are still considered mid-size. Pontiac launched a coupe convertible version of the G6 at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show. To much excitement, the G6 convertibles began arriving on lots during the spring of 2006. The model is not exactly cheap and not exactly expensive. The starting price for the GT trim level is $28,490; while the GTP starts at $29,990. Oddly enough though, at launch, it was the most inexpensive retractable hardtop available in the U.S. market. One might think that this would make it an instant sell, but that is not always the case. This mid-size car released in late 2004 uses the GM Epsilon platform, which it shares with the Cadillac BLS, the Chevrolet Malibu, the Opel Vectra, the Saab 9-3 and the Saturn Aura. The G6 is a much overdue replacement for the Pontiac Grand Am. Pontiac gets huge kudos in the marketing department.

The launch was a major publicity stunt that included 276 of the cars being famously given away to audience members at The Oprah Winfrey Show. This promotion garnered international attention, and a reported $110 million in publicity. This obviously put the G6, a previously unknown name, solidly on the wish lists of many drivers. On the other hand, the stunt was criticized for not reaching the G6's intended target audience, and worse, for occurring before dealers had enough G6 inventory. It appears they got the big idea and then failed to think about the small details. Granted, the G6 was new to the public, but many considered it just the sixth generation of the Grand Am. This did not slow it down though, as within a year, the car had become the 11th best selling car in the United States.
