Additional Mercedes-Benz S 280Auto Transport Information:
Auto Transport for Mercedes-Benz S 280 The S 280 model is commonly accepted as the Mercedes-Benz flagship model. Though the term S-Class has been used as a number of ways for decades, it was not formally used by Mercedes-Benz until the introduction of the W116 for the 1973 model year. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the familiar description for a series of large luxury flagship sedans produced by Mercedes-Benz over the years, which is a division of DaimlerChrysler. While the exact beginning of the S-Class moniker is not known exactly, it has always been used in reference to the most spacious and largest luxury models in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. This does exclude though the limited-production Mercedes-Benz 600 limousine, which was obviously large and luxurious. In some instances it also applied to vehicles requiring premium fuel due to the higher compression ratio.

The name "S-Class" is derived from the German word "Sonderklasse". The 'S' is just used for short. "Sonderklasse" means "special class", which is taken to mean a specially outfitted car. In this class, models sold in North America are the S 450, which is beginning in 2008, the S 550, the S 600, the S 63 AMG and the S65 AMG. Outside of North America, models include the S 350 and the S 320 CDI. The first W221 model released in North America was the S 550, which was called the S 500 outside North America. The following spring, the S 600 arrived. Upscale department store Saks Fifth Avenue even offered 20 special-edition S 600 sedans for sale in its 2005 Christmas catalog. It is amazing to think about, but all 20 cars, priced at a not exactly cheap $145,000 each, sold on November 22, 2005 in less than seven minutes. The Saks-edition S 600 sedans are very nicely finished in a mocha black exterior with an almond beige interior and are the first examples of the S 600 to be sold to private owners. The S 600s come with nearly every option standard. This is a true test of luxury.
