Auto Transport for Mercedes-Benz ML 430 suv The redesigned M-class was launched to the public in April 2005 as a 2006 model after its initial showing at the North American International Auto Show in January. It is nearly entirely new, with a sportier, aerodynamic look. It also boasts a low drag coefficient of 0.34. Further, Mercedes-Benz has made the new M-class larger, measuring 150 mm longer than the first model, which gives a bit more interior cabin space. The M-Class was named "Best New Sport Utility Vehicle" in the 2006 Canadian Car of the Year awards which was obviously a huge hit with buyers. On the flip side, the rear if the vehicle was commonly referred to as a shoebox, so Daimler Chrysler spent most of their $600 billion dollars on redesigning that part in particular. On account of public knowledge of poor quality control at the Vance, Alabama factory, Mercedes-Benz widely publicized the $600 million that was spent to update the factory and add additional manufacturing space for the new R-Class.

Early automotive press reports stipulate that the 2006 M-Class vehicles demonstrate vast improvements in build quality, which is great news for Benz. The W164 platform used for the new M-Class is also shared with the new GL-Class and is a unibody type rather than the former body-on-frame used by the M-Class vehicles, which were produced from 1997 until 2005. The X164 GL Class is a longer version of the W164 platform, and it is also available. Years earlier, in 1999, Mercedes responded to critics with the ML 430, which came equipped with a beefed-up 4.3-liter, 268-hp V8 engine that gave the vehicle a faster zero to 60 acceleration time and gave it some additional "oomph" when towing a trailer or just dashing down the highway when late to work. It turned out to be a great showing on the part of Mercedes- Benz.
