Additional Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMGAuto Transport Information:
Auto Transport for Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG The CLK 55 AMG highlights a 5.5 L, 24-valve SOHC V8 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission. The base price is a whopping $69,900 for the coupe and an even higher $82,000 for the convertible. This is not the car for the first time driver. The CLK 55 AMG coupe was dropped in North America after the 2005 model year, though the convertible is still offered. The CLK 55 was discontinued to make way for its replacement, the CLK 63 in 2007. The first-generation CLK was launched in 1996, 3 years after the 1st generation C-Class model, on which the car was based. This turned out to be the final derivative of the W202 platform. The launch of the CLK also marked Mercedes' first venture into the mid-sized coupe market and was finally the marquee's first rival to the BMW 3-Series Coupe.

They had been trying to chase down BMW for some time now and to do so with this model was a great thing. It was less expensive than the sporty SL- Class convertibles, but the first generation CLK convertible was the most successful convertible Mercedes-Benz ever offered. This is quite an accomplishment for the model, and over its lifetime 41,520 units were sold in the United States from 1999 to 2003. Then add to that 115,000 were sold throughout the world. Models offered in the first generation included the CLK 230 Kompressor, the CLK 320, the CLK 430, and the CLK 55 AMG. All were available in both coupe and convertible form. The previously mentioned CLK 320 coupe was introduced in the 1998 model year, powered by a 3.2 L V6 engine. The CLK 320 convertible and the 4.3 L V8-powered CLK430 coupe appeared in 1999. A CLK 430 convertible joined the lineup in 2000. The high-performance CLK 55 AMG coupe was introduced in 2001, powered by a 5.4 L V8. The CLK 55 AMG cabriolet became available in 2002, the last year of this body style.
