Auto Transport for Dodge Avenger Before reading any further, one must understand that the name 'Dodge Aspen' has been used on three different cars. For one, there is the Dodge Avenger coupe, which was available from 1995 until 2000. For two, there is the Dodge Avenger Concept car from the 2003 North American International Auto Show. And lastly, for three, there is the Dodge Avenger, a sedan released in 2007 for the 2008 model year. One might be wondering where the 'Avenger' name even came from and how it came about that it has been used so many times. Well the answer is that the 'Avenger' name was originally used on the Hillman Avenger, which was produced by Rootes Group while that company was owned by the Chrysler Corporation.

The first generation 'Dodge Avenger' was a 2-door coupe that replaced the Dodge Daytona and the Mitsubishi-based Dodge Stealth. The Avenger was built by Diamond Star Motors, a joint venture between Chrysler Corporation and Mitsubishi Motors. This joint venture didn't really last that long, and the two ended in 1995. Avengers built from 1995 to 1996 have DSM markings in their engine compartments. Over the years though, very subtle changes were made to the Avenger. ABS was equipped in all ES models to 1999. In 1997, the front fascia, the trunk and the rear bumper were changed. In 2000, the V6 and automatic transmission combo was changed to a standard component on all Avengers. Also in 2000, the four-cylinder engine was dropped. Continuing in the tradition, the Avenger will return for 2008 as a sedan to replace the Dodge Stratus, which has grown quite old. The Dodge Avenger was slated to arrive in show rooms once again in March 2007 as a 2008 model. It will be interesting to watch this car and see for how long it retains the 'Avenger' name.
