Additional Oldsmobile IntrigueAuto Shipper Information:
Auto Shipper for Oldsmobile Intrigue Starting with the folks that really make it all happen, all Intrigues were fabricated at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kansas, which is the same location where the Grand Prix was built. The Aurora-inspired, Intrigue was developed to compete more with the Japanese automobiles than the American autos. It was also intended to replace the aging and unfashionable Cutlass Supreme. Production began on May 5, 1997 with high hopes for market domination. The pit fall may have been that it was similar to a range of mid-sized sedans from other GM divisions, which included the Buick Century, the Buick Regal, the Chevrolet Impala, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the Pontiac Grand Prix. The Intrigue did differ from its siblings in its chassis tuning, equipment and with regards to some dimensions. For example, the wheelbase was 1.5 inches shorter for the Intrigue than the Grand Prix and the Intrigue was available in three trim levels. These trims included the base GX, the mid-level GL and the high-end GLS.

In keeping up with the Jones’, the 1999 model year received a new sophisticated DOHC 3.5L Shortstar engine, which was a six-cylinder based on the GM Northstar V8. Shortly thereafter, on June 14, 2002, the final Intrigue sadly rolled off the assembly line. It was part of the Final 500 Collectors Editions that were manufactured of all the Oldsmobile models that were still in production at the time. As it turns out, the Intrigue was the first casualty in the phase-out process of Oldsmobile. Prior though, Oldsmobile released a special model of the Intrigue for the 1998 model year, which was made by AMT. It had better paint detailing than the prior generations and the tri-color taillights were authentically recreated. Further, there is badging, and as with the Geo Storm it was not offered as a model kit.
