Additional Nissan VanAuto Shipper Information:
Auto Shipper for Nissan Van The Nissan Van C22 is also known as the Nissan Vanette or Nissan Van. This is, as the name implies, a van produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan starting in 1981. The Nissan C20 had a 2.0 liter four-cylinder gasoline engine while the C22 was equipped with a 2.2 liter. The passenger version of the model is called the Vanette in most markets, although it is no longer produced for the Japanese market. It is still however available in other markets around the world such as Malaysia. Over the years, the model has remained much the same. In fact, the 1980s interior was left unchanged. The Nissan C22 was modified for the United States market though to compete with the similar sized Toyota Van.

Nissan was prompted to join the growing minivan market in the US. Drivers Stateside will know the model as the "Nissan Van" which was available from 1987 until 1990. Nissan had to engineer its larger 2.4 liter engine into the C22 in order to handle the American requirements such as air conditioning. It seems that the American consumers were accustomed to a bit more in their automobiles. This was made difficult by the fact that the C22 was not originally designed for such a large engine. What resulted was pretty much a disaster. The tight quarters were later found to contribute to overheating and engine fire issues. This resulted in some bad press to say the least. In 1994 after four safety recalls did not end the engine fire problems, Nissan took the unprecedented step of recalling every Nissan Van sold in the US. This came after a class action lawsuit was filed. Van owners were offered blue book value or more for their model, and most accepted. For some reason, a few opted to keep their vehicles instead.
