Additional Mitsubishi RaiderAuto Shipper Information:
Auto Shipper for Mitsubishi Raider The Raider name is left over from the Dodge Raider Sport Utility Vehicle, which was sold from 1987 to 1990. This model was itself in fact a rebadged Mitsubishi Montero. The newly named Mitsubishi Raider is a pickup truck from Mitsubishi Motors that debuted in the fall of 2005 as a 2006 model for the United States market. It is based largely on the very popular and competitive Dodge Dakota. The Raider does fill the gap in the Mitsubishi lineup since the dropping of the Mighty Max in 1996. Currently, the model is fabricated in the United States by DaimlerChrysler. Under the hood, the engine choices include a 4.7 L PowerTech V8 producing 230 hp and 290 ft•lbf and a 3.7 L PowerTech V6 that puts out 210 hp.

This is in fact a milestone for the company, as it is also Mitsubishi's first V8 engine for North America. Sales have certainly not been excellent to say the least. For example, in January of 2006, 377 units were sold and in February of 2006, 492 units were sold. Now compare that to the 4,583 units and 6,260 units of the Dakotas that were sold. Mitsubishi dealers in fact are said to have a six-month supply of Raiders on their lots, which was caused the company to ask DaimlerChrysler to cut production. This is of course the worst thing that could happen. Perhaps some of the models need to be sent north, given that the Raider is not currently available in Canada. This is partly due to that fact that the brand has only sold there since 2003. Furthering the problem, the model has not received hardly any advertising when compared to the Dodge Dakota. Funny thing about this is that the two models are mechanically identical, and priced very much the same.
