Additional Ferrari F40Auto Shipper Information:
Auto Shipper for Ferrari F40 The Ferrari F40 is certainly in a league of its own given that during its production run, it was Ferrari's fastest, most powerful and most expensive vehicle. Even today it remains one of the highest performing street legal vehicles ever produced. This supercar was produced by Ferrari from 1987 to 1992 as the successor to the 288 GTO, with which it shared some parts. The F40's light weight of 1100 kg and high power output of 478 hp @ 7000 rpm gave the vehicle tremendous performance potential. Road tests have produced acceleration times that are almost unbelievable. The F40 was recorded as having a zero to sixty mph time as low as 3.2 seconds and a zero to one hundred mph time of 7.6 seconds. This gave the F40 a slight advantage in acceleration over the 959, which was considered its primary competitor at the time. From its introduction in 1987 until 1989, it held the record as the world's fastest production car, with a top speed of 201 mph. The record was broken in 1989 by the RUF CTR "Yellowbird" which reportedly hit a top speed of 211 mile-per-hour. The top speed was proven in 1992 through an infamous video of a Japanese dealership owner who proved the car's potential by filming himself touching its top speed on an expressway. He made a huge error when he sold the videotape to an undercover policeman. He was subsequently arrested thereafter, nevertheless, by that point he had already sold ten thousand videos.

It was intended that there were to be 400 F40s made, all painted red. Whether or not this initial number was stuck to is debatable. Yet at ninety years old, Enzo Ferrari was keenly aware that his life was coming to an end and that Ferrari's dominance in international motorsport had faded. As a result, Enzo wanted something that would remind the world of the company's capabilities as a manufacturer and to provide some competition for the Porsche 959 ' and the motivation for the F40 was born.
