Additional Buick ElectraAuto Shipper Information:
Auto Shipper for Buick Electra The Buick Electra was introduced to the world in 1959, and the name would continue to be used in some form or another until 1990. The Electra and the 225 were full-size first-class sedans built by the Buick division of General Motors. In fact, the Electra was merely a renamed version of the Super and the 225 was a renamed version of the Roadmaster. A new model of the Electra was introduced in 1985, as a redesigned front-wheel drive riding on the GM C platform. It was initially built with either the 3.0 or 3.8 liter Buick V6 engine mated to a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Drivers could select among the Limited, Park Avenue and performance-oriented T-Type editions. Later a Park Avenue Ultra edition also came to market.

This car was given a lot of attention because of all things - it hood. It was hinged to open towards the front, which was unlike most other passenger cars to date. Following the media attention of the hood debacle, the Park Avenue badge became an official trim designation within the Electra series in 1985. As one may assume from the name, it was the most luxuriously equipped and fully featured Electra available. For the trivia buff -Actress Jayne Mansfield was killed in an automobile crash while riding in a 1966 Electra. Additional mainstream media attention was received thanks to Seattle-based rapper Sir Mix-A-Lot who rapped about the love-hate relationship he had with his green 1969 Electra in "My Hooptie". This song incidentally became a hit single in 1990. The music video appropriately featured his Electra as his loaner car when his personal Mercedes-Benz was being serviced. It is unknown how well this went over with Benz. Nevertheless, The Electra was given face time in homes across America, and even had the pleasure of reaching audiences young and old.
