Additional Audi Q5Auto Shipper Information:
Auto Shipper for Audi Q5 The Audi Q5 will hit the market hopefully in 2008. It is a crossover Sports Utility Vehicle based on Audi's A4 compact car and as Audi's first crossover Sports Utility Vehicle, it will be the second Audi model in the "Q" range, which follows the full-size truck-based Q7. It will face tough competition from the Land Rover Freelander, BMW X3, Lexus RX, Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class and also the Volvo XC60. Thankfully, in terms of quality, he new vehicle will be built in Audi's hometown of Ingolstadt. This will be a pricey project for Audi, as it will require an investment of about $400 million in production tooling and expansion. When everyone thought the SUV market was drying up, Audi goes along and adds a new model to the mix. Many have claimed they are late to the party. It is based on the next A4 and aims to rival the BMW X3. Much like the Q7, it is not really built for heavy-duty off-roading but is equipped to handle decent hills. This is made possible by the Q5's Quattro all-wheel-drive system, which has a 40/60 percent front/rear torque bias. The engine has not yet been released, however, likely contenders are a direct-injection 2.0-liter four and a 3.2-liter V-6. Perhaps the 4.2-liter V-8 could power an S-line version.

Unfortunately for larger families there is no third row, but the back seat does more forward and back for better cargo space. Audi intends to sell 70,000 of each of the available models. The Q5 should be making its first appearance at the Frankfurt showing late 2007. Drivers may want to prepare for sticker shock not only on the model itself, but also on the cost of gas to run this beauty. As oil prices increase, Sport Utility Vehicles become ever more expensive to operate.
