Auto Shipper for Audi GT Coupe There is nothing like driving a performance vehicle with the satisfaction the driver receives when the car responds to your every wish. Audi continues to deliver cars with superior handling both in steering ability and braking ability. The German automaker has once again delivered a wonderful model that drivers can be pleased to own. In 1981, Audi released the Coupe GT, a 2-door sports car produced and sold from 1981 until 1988. This was a valiant attempt by Audi to offer a more affordable version of its turbocharged, all-wheel drive Quattro. The market had become saturated with high performance vehicles with high dollar price tags. Mainstream consumers on the other hand were looking for something that they could afford to own. Many luxury models were out of their target price range until Audi launched the GT Coups. The Coupe GT featured a similar body shape to the Quattro, but without the knife-edged fender flares of the more expensive car. Mechanically, the biggest changes from the Quattro to the GT were the use of a naturally aspirated 1.9 litre carburetor engine, 2.0 litre or 2.2 litre injected 5-cylinder engine and a front-wheel drive drivetrain. Drivers really didn't mind the differences between the two models as long as they could afford to bring one home.

Later Coupe GT's were fitted with a 1.8 litre injected 4-cylinder engine. Audi did however have a handful of clients who were looking for something with slightly better handling and were willing to except that it would be more expensive. For this reason, from late 1984, Audi made available the option of the quattro All Wheel Drive system to produce the Audi coupe quattro, a model that was rarer than the Turbocharged Quattro model. This was only produced with the 2.2 litre engine. It seems that in the end the GT Coupe perfectly met the needs of the market.
