Pontiac Torrent Vehicle Shipping
The Torrent should not be new to anyone as it was featured as one of the prizes in the reality television series Survivor in 2005. This is a sport utility vehicle manufactured by the Pontiac division of General Motors that was issued as a replacement for the U-body Aztek. It is aimed at the crossover SUV segment. Basically, the Torrent is a Chevrolet Equinox on the Theta platform. The Torrent was showcased at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show and went on sale in late summer 2005. The Torrent shares its body structure and mechanicals with the Equinox; however, the Torrent has a unique front and rear end that makes it look like a Pontiac rather than look like a Chevrolet. Also, the suspension was also altered to be firmer and sportier. Lastly, the electronic power steering was also adjusted to also deliver a firmer and less artificial feel. The driving is more like a truck and less like a wishy-washy soapbox. The Torrent does share the Equinox's 185 hp 3.4 L V6 engine that is built in China. This is combined to a 5-speed automatic transmission that is made in Japan. There really is no such thing as an American made car any longer. Anyhow, having failed with the previous crossover vehicle, the Torrent is Pontiac’s first ever SUV. The Torrent is still in reality a compact crossover SUV, but at an affordable price. The back seats move forward and back to increase the cargo space or legroom accordingly, which is a great feature. Its compact size makes it more lightweight than most SUVs and it boasts an impressive 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. It comes standard with power locks and windows, ABS brakes, a luggage rack, cargo compartments, fog lights and keyless entry. Additionally, there are plenty of option packages to please anyone.
