Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

Starting with the impressive statistics and awards, Car and Driver got a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.6 seconds. This is really nothing short of amazing. To truly understand this, sit still for 3.6 seconds and imagine the power that must be utilized to propel something to 60 mph in that short span of time. Further, it did a quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 125 mph. The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is a sports car and Supercar, both of which are an understatement. This is a machine no less. It was co-developed by DaimlerChrysler and McLaren Cars and is the second-fastest automatic transmission car in the world. It is only trumped by the Bugatti Veyron. Assembly took place at the McLaren Technology Center in Woking, England where quality control is strictly enforced and monitored as all of their models come out with an impressive level of care and workmanship. The name SLR stands for Super-Light, Racing. However, the bad news is the price. One will not come by this model for under $450,000. There have been reports of the McLaren reaching a speed of 210 mph. This is on account of the car use of carbon for its entire body construction, which makes it much lighter. On the other hand, the car is, however still quite heavy at 1768 kg which is due to Mercedes Benz' commitment to safety and luxury. The SLR McLaren is one of the safest and most luxurious Supercars ever build. It is particularly special because it strays from the common Supercar practice of eliminating luxuries for the sake of weight reduction. This power can be had while being spoiled from the inside out. This limited edition may not be around for long, so take note now while the vehicle is still hot. Granted, hopefully another partnership will produce another such Supercar.
