This was my first experience with transporting a vehicle cross-country using a broker. I liked the look of the Direct Express site and found it to be easy to navigate, informative, with no surprises or vague price quotes. I couldn''t have been happier with my experience! Everything was handled promptly and efficiently, from the initial email confirmation to the easy-to-understand email instructions throughout the rest of the process. The tranport service they assigned me was superior. (Redacted) and (Redacted) are consummate professionals and they kept me informed each step of the way. I felt the price was reasonable and the timeline was amazingly accurate. (Redacted) handled my vehicle with kid gloves at both the pick up and delivery points and he represents your service well. He went above and beyond the call to get my 1963 Falcon from California to North Carolina. He spent the night in the truck so as to take an early morning pickup to take advantage of a light traffic time. He managed to thread his big rig thru narrow city streets in Richmond Ca and to deliver the car with just some road grime on it. Hats off to (Redacted) and (Redacted)Transport for a job well done! Date: 5/16/2008 Subject: Direct Express Auto Transport Review: Placed order on a Friday, driver from their contracted carrier contacted me the following Monday morning ready to pickup within hours. I actually had to delay pickup until early evening because my spouse had driven the vehicle to work that day. If I just had to come up with a complaint about this experience, it would be that I could have used a call from the driver at least 24 hours before pickup. Then, he could have gotten on the road earlier because spouse wouldn't have taken the car to work that morning. But, as it turned out, we quickly, readily, easily, and painlessly worked out a mutually agreeable pickup time for early evening that same day. Vehicle exterior was pretty dirty upon arrival (took two passes through the car wash) but hey, it was an open transport carrier, so duh! What would you expect? If dirt's an issue, get an enclosed transport carrier. No physical damage to vehicle during consignment and transport was noted upon arrival. Vehicle was not transferred to any other carrier trailer during transport. The driver that picked it up is the driver that delivered it. Direct Express Auto Transport was definitely the most cost effective transport firm of those that I had researched; they had good reviews from both customer blogs like this one and a couple of trade organizations alike. I, personally, give Direct Express Auto Transport high marks for contracting what turned out to be a high-quality auto transport carrier, and I hope that they pass along my report of 100% satisfaction to not only the contracted carrier but to the actual driver, and to his boss, as well. I cannot believe how fast and in what great condition I received the car. The price and the delivery was just awesome. Poster: Steve Simonson Date: 5/8/2008 Subject: Car pickup Review: I bought a 65 GTO convertible that was in North Carolina. Figuring fuel cost ended up being quite high. I saw an ad in eBay and contacted the companyfor a quote. The price was slightly higher than my fuel cost. I commissioned for a load and had excellent communication on the status of pickup. When it came time for delivery Tessa was fantastic and extremely helpful. Instead of making me take the day off from work, she coordinated a delivery for 4AM which really helped me out. Delivery was at 4:02AM and I was very surprised. I quit dealing with car delivery companies years ago as I felt like everything was done for the company. Much to my surprise this was opposite and a real deal. The delvery was done with extreme care and very professional. The driver was very knowledgeable about classic cars and went to great lengths when he carefully unloaded. He even helped to push a non-running vehicle to the storage area. I could not have been happier. From start to finish was less than 30 minutes and that includes the paperwork. Will I use the Direct Express again? ABSOLUTELY. Best deal I have had in a very long time. Thank you Direct Express. If you are in need of a car being transported - deal with Direct Express. You can't go wrong. Picked up my car on the first available date and had it in Arizona a few days earlier than expected. I would definitely use the company again. I was able to make the deposit online, received an order number almost immediately after I submitted the payment, and was able to reach them with no hold time with a couple random questions. This was the first time I transported a car across states and was a bit nervous, however Direct Express Auto made it painless! I highly recommend them for your open-trailer car transportation needs! It was a little shocking at how quickly my car arrived at its destination - it could have been a problem had a friend not volunteered to receive the car for me. The driver was very friendly and I will definitely use Auto Transport Direct when I bring my car back home in August. I only wish that the pickup window was a little shorter so that I could make more concrete moving plans and not be without a car. After shopping a few other transporter websites I was satisfied the price at Direct Express Auto Transport was reasonable. Some quotes were lower, but frankly I was afraid of them! I returned to Direct Express Auto’s website where I entered my transport order online on the afternoon of 04/25/08. The job was to pickup my Honda 2000 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and deliver it in Los Angeles. About an hour after placing the order a person at Direct called to tell me a truck had been assigned and that the driver would call me soon. In another hour the driver called to say he would pickup two days later on 4/27/08. He called on the morning of 4/27. We arranged the pickup for later in the morning. He arrived with a first-class rig at the appointed time and was a delightful, confidence inspiring guy. He even had special tie-downs to secure my little sports car which lacked any hooks or easy places to tie-on. The driver said my car would be delivered on 4/30/08. On the afternoon of 4/30 my daughter called from Los Angeles to say that she had received the car in perfect condition and that it was tucked away in the garage! Everything went smooth as silk. That's how easy it was. Poster: Carrie Proleika Date: 5/1/2008 Subject: Very good experience Review: Bought a vehicle at a dealership and they delayed completion of paperwork which messed up the timing for pick up of our vehicle. I called Direct Express and they made the change with a smile in their voices and reassured me that everything would be OK. Within a day we were back on track. Very friendly people here with a strong customer-service orientation. The only thing negative I could say is the truck driver wasn't much on proactive communication about when the vehicle was picked up or to be delivered. We had to reach out to him to do all that. I have shipped a number of cars over the years qand typically found glitches on one or both ends. Their rates were the cheapest. Their delivery and service the best. The transporter driver had over thirty years in the business. My car was delivered unblemished and untouched. Without a doubt, I would use Direct Auto Transport to service my shipping needs. The contact person was very professional, answered my questions and offered advice. We setup a pickup window Thursday thru Monday of the same week. Direct Express Transport contacted me with email as the job progressed. The driver contacted my person in Seattle Wa. and worked with him to set up a good time for the pickup. The driver contacted me a couple of times, keeping me updated on his progress. The driver a very nice, his equipment was in good shape, and I was very pleased with the whole experience. I already set another date to have another one of my vehicles moved from Rhode Island to West Virginia. I have told friends that plan on moving to use them for there vehicles. When my car arrived at its destination my friend said there wasn't a thing wrong with it and that it looked as good as it did when it was loaded onto truck (I sent pictures to him to let him see what it looked like). Truck driver was very courteous and delivered car at time he said he would. I would recommend this car delivery service to any of my friends. Poster: Hao Date: 4/24/2008 Subject: Fast Delivery Review: First time auto transport user. Had to relocate from NJ to CA on short notice due to work. Shopped around online and Direct Express has the 2nd lowest quote. The lowest one doesn't allow any personal items to be left in the car. I had two suitcases filled with books (nearly 100 lb) in the trunk and they are ok with it, so that saved me at least $50 to ship them separately. Driver picked up the car on the time (Tuesday afternoon) we discussed over the phone. He told my dad, who was the one handled the exchange in NJ (I took the flight to CA in the morning), my car is the last one in his pick up route, from there he will drive straight to CA, he estimated the car will be delivered on Monday. So I was very surprised to receive a phone call from him on Saturday morning. The car arrived slightly dirty, but that was to be expected and otherwise in great condition. Overall I am very happy with the experience and will use their service again if the need ever come up. Highly recommended. Ray Date: 4/16/2008 Subject: Saved me time & money Review: I bought a 1975 Honda civic wagon (all electric showcar winning 12 awards) on eBay, me in ohio, Honda in texas. what do I do? eBay chat board recommended this transport company. Quote was $550, but increased to $650 because of brake failure whlie loading by previous owner. This was reasonable to me, especially since the Honda was packed with heavy extras like battery charger, custom towbar for hauling to car shows, and auxillary equipment, books, logs, ect.... The transport driver was very careful to ratchet the car down safely. This transport saved me lots of time and money, and I would recommend them to my buddys. Poster: Grant Date: 4/16/2008 Subject: Good Experience Review: Searched the web for over a week trying to find a reputable company to move my vehicle from Boston MA to Columbus OH. Read many reviews and decided to try Direct Express based on my findings. I called to place my order and got thru right away, five minutes later my order was placed and within one day I was assigned a driver. The driver picked up the vehicle two days later and arrived right on time. My only issue was with the truck driver, the vehicle above mine was leaking oil for the entire trip and totally covered my vehicle. Other than that, the experience was wonderful and I would use Direct Express again. The driver communicated with me prior to pick up and was always available on a cell phone whenever I had questions. The driver, Tim, called me throughout the day updating with a time and place to pick up my car. When my car arrived it was Sunday evening in January in Massachusetts and it was snowing and my car did not start. The driver, Tim, said he would take care of it. Tim spent about 1 1/2 hour in the snow working on my car, while I waited inside. There was no extra charge for this humble service and Tim was incredibly nice. When he fastened my auto to the transport I was very confident when he pulled away. I knew my vehicle would arrive at its destination in good condition and would not be damaged. The price of transporting the car back to St Louis was $50.00 more than when it was brought down and when I asked why I was told it was because of the raise in gasoline prices.. From my first contact with the staff until the vehicle was safely delivered they kept me advised of necessary information and they were always good to their word. The transport driver, (redacted), was really super. He knew his business and carefully and professionally loaded, transported and unloaded the vehicle. He treated it like it was his own. Two days after he carefully loaded the vehicle in Eastern North Carolina he was carefully unloading it in Missouri. Impressive. I was dubious, if not suspicious, at every turn with having to rely on a civilian shipper. I had no way of knowing if I was going to get what I was paying for or not. When I called Direct Transport for information, they were upfront and helpful. The driver delivered the vehicle when he said he would. My brother received the vehicle on behalf of my daughter, who was also present. He reviewed the vehicle inspection with both of them and answered their questions with professionalism and care. My brother told me the driver was friendly and informed, and my daughter told me the driver spoke to her just as directly and respectfully as my brother. This is worth noting my daughter is a young woman. Often, older men treat young women in a condescending manner. This was not the case with this driver. The vehicle arrived clean, undamaged and on time. The staff of Direct Transport and the driver of the carrier were professional and helpful. I am very pleased with this transaction. This time I bought a vehicle off an individual. I searched for some transport companies and found AutoTransportDirect to be the best site to get a very quick quote and had a good price. I called them and they seemed easy to work with. Once I bought the car I did everything online (scheduled pick up, payment, etc.). The pickup was done on-time, the same day the car was made available. I did not get a call before pickup like the site said I would, but the owner (or ex-owner) of the car did get a call and they set it all up through him so I did not have aproblem with it. The shipper picked up the car in a very strong rain storm, drove through various storms on the way to Michigan, including a blizzard in Ohio that had him stuck there in the state for a day. The driver called me on Sunday and said he might be able to deliver a day early, but late that night. I agreed. The car arrived dirty since it had been through a few storms, but no damage. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable, and most importantly, very carefull with my car. Their price quote was the lowest of 19 companies I checked. There was another company that tied with them, but when I tried to schedule with them, they said they didn't know how they had quoted that low of a price and tried to raise it $150. I said "No thanks" and called Direct Express. They had good reviews on this site and so I decided to give them a shot. I was a little concerned since the place the car was coming from was almost literally in the middle of nowhere (over 100 miles from any town even big enough to have an airport...). Review: I needed to get my new Shelby GT500 from Indiana to New Jersey. I've never made a long distance transaction like this and was nervous about getting it home. I got estimates from some of the "well known" transporters. The closest estimate was $160 higher. The highest was almost double! I was always told to throw out the cheapest estimate on anything and therefore wasn't going to use Direct Express. After reading the reviews on them, I couldn't justify not using them. Ryan (the driver) picked up my car on time from the dealership and documented a chip in the paint that I never saw! Thanks to him, the dealer agreed to pay for it. He treated my car like it was his. The car was inspected for original condition, then loaded onto the transport truck. The car was delivered to the destination with great dispatch. The actual process proceeded so smoothly without me spending any time on the telephone trying to navigate through those annoying automated menus to find out the status of my move. I had my household goods shipped during November of 2007 and the shipper contracted by my employer was definitely among my worst nightmares. With the service I received from this company I wish they were in the business of moving furniture as well. Joe kept me informed as to when he would pick up the car and let me know each step of the delivery. I was a little hesitant at first using this service but it turned out there was nothing to worry about. I liked his calling to let me know when he will be here and when he was about an hour away he let me know the approximate time he would be arriving. He called 10 minutes away so I was able to get the car without any trouble. There was not any damage of any sort that was not there before the pick up. He actually picked up the van day early, which kind of threw me for a loop, but it all worked out fine, and I would not hesitate one bit to use this company or Michael from (redacted) out of Alabama again! I decided to take a chance with Direct Express Auto Transport since their HQ office is local to SF Bay Area. Placed the order online about one week before the first available pickup date. Only had to call the customer service line once; to check on the status of the order about 3 days before the pickup date. A truck was assigned right on the pickup date and driver called later the same day. Was assigned to (redacted) Auto Transport (MO) driver was very courteous, even scheduled the delivery date later than originally planned because of my flight was scheduled 2 days after. as far as pricing goes, Direct Express Auto Transport was not the cheapest from all the quotes I received and wasn't the most expensive either, but definitely worth every penny. I contacted several companies, which responded to my request asking about Military Discounts plus some other questions I had. Through another reference I had heard good comments about Direct Auto. When I asked my questions the individual I talked with immediately gave me a $25.00 discount plus answered my other concerns. After discussing the information with my son since it was his car, we decided to use Direct Auto. I contacted them again and set up a delivery time. They told me they would contact me before the scheduled pickup date and let me know when the car was assigned to a truck and who to contact to arrange the pickup. I was contacted as indicated and within a few hours the truck driver contacted me and introduced himself. After getting innumerable quotes, we chose Auto Transport Direct because of two factors: 1) The price was within $50 of the lowest quote we received, and 2) Auto Transport Direct had a 5-star rating. (Other 5-star companies were $200, to as much as $400 higher. The companies that were lower had 1 & 2-star ratings with multiple complaints.) Not being geniuses, we deduced that if we hire one of the BEST for almost the LEAST, we'd be fools not to. As stated before, Yakima isn't on the "beaten path", so we were prepared to wait 30-days or so for pickup, if need be. ATD picked up the car on the second day it was available and had it here 3 days later. The communication from the broker customer service reps and the driver for ATD was courteous and thorough with updates throughout the trip. The car arrived undamaged, albeit a tad dirty from a 2,000 mile trip though mountains with snow. The driver even cleaned the windows after it was unloaded off the truck. All in all, we could not ask for more... nor do we hesitate to strongly recommend Auto Transport Direct to anyone needing their car transported. The brokers suggested to us by the selling dealer were completely useless - we spent over 2 weeks trying to get them to transport our vehicle, to no avail. I called Auto Transport Direct late on a Friday afternoon, and by Monday morning we received an email reporting that we had a truck assigned to us. The transporter picked up the car on Tuesday and delivered it the next day! The driver was great: he called us the day before to let us know his approximate arrival time, and twice more on the delivery day. The trip was about 350 miles or so. The driver from (redacted) was very polite and professional, skillful in unloading and maneuvering on our small suburban cul-de-sac, and delivered the car as requested - on the top deck of his transporter. His large pickup was equipped with GPS, so he never had to ask for any kind of directions from us. We couldn't be more pleased with our delivery through ATD. The price we paid was LESS than those other brokers had quoted, and was very reasonable. Our Saab wagon arrived in perfect shape. I picked ATD based on the other reviews on this site, having looked at other possibilities on the Web and finding little in the way of credible feedback for them. After using the calculator, I emailed them and their quote was exactly that of the calculator. There were absolutely no hassles with the interaction, and the car was delivered, on a Saturday in a snowstorm I might add, within a week of my request. The charge was very reasonable, as I have had other cars transported from several areas (San Diego, West Virginia) and they were easily the least expensive. The transaction was smooth and the car arrived in perfect condition. I will certainly use them again. I researched many brokers and carriers on the "transport reviews" website. Only companies with 5 star ratings were considered. Direct Express provided a reasonable quote - less than the other top brokers considered. All paperwork was filled out on their web site. They followed up immediately with a call from a customer service rep. The Customer Service Rep was very professional and had the car tendered to a carrier in 2 days. The carrier chosen was Exotic Carriers based in New Jersey. The driver called 2 days after the car was assigned to Exotic Carriers. The driver called on the same day of the pickup (about 4 hours notice on a Saturday), so this could be a problem for some, but was ok with me. I met the driver in a local shopping center to make the loading easier. The driver was polite and professional - no issues with the whole pickup process. The driver had a helper with him and said they were the ones taking the load to New York. The car was delivered in New York 9 days later. The window given was 7 - 14 days. I consider this an excellent transit time since it was December and the weather conditions were pretty harsh across the country. The car was delivered to my brother-in-law in New York without incident. The driver called and delivered the car as scheduled. Other than expected road dirt, the car was in good condition. Since everything with the carrier went so smoothly, I never had the need to get the team at Direct Express involved after the initial pickup. I was going to drive and pick it up myself but the drive alone was 13hrs each way (mapquest). The ride back would have been a nightmare, having to pull into gas stations with a car on a 20' trailer or what about a traffic jam, and worst of all the trailer can't go over 40mph loaded. With to cost of fuel and the time it would have taken it just wasn't worth it so I googled car movers and a list of companies popped up.
